Building more homes 'will help property seekers'

The government should ensure that more new property is constructed
in the UK, it has been claimed.
According to Steve Turner, head of communications at the Home
Builders Federation, this would help home seekers as it would mean
that residences remain good value.
His remarks were made after SmartNewHomes.com released statistics
which showed that the value of a new abode rose last month by 1.9
per cent.
The organisation found that a typical new-build now costs just over
£220,000.
Mr Turner stated: "The policy direction of government over the next
few months is going to be absolutely critical."
In a plea to the new coalition government formed after the general
election, he added: "We have got to be building more homes."
By ensuring the housing stock is boosted, the government will be
able to help consumers purchase homes that are in the areas that
suit them best, Mr Turner went on to claim.
