Property market 'sees surge in homes for sale'

There has been an increase in the number of homes for sale
recently, indicating a positive sign for the property market, it
has been suggested.
In an article on Thisismoney.co.uk, it was reported that while the
future of the market remains uncertain there have been good
indications that sales will rise.
Assistant editor of the website Simon Lambert said: "Agents are
already reporting a surge in homes for sale as speculative sellers
return and landlords test the waters on taking their
profits."
He added that the government should avoid imposing a capital gains
tax rise to help the market improve further.
According to the article, house prices have increased significantly
over the last few months with Nationwide putting inflation at 9.8
per cent in May, while the Land Registry stated it was 8.5 per cent
in April.
Mr Lambert's comments correlate with findings released last week by
mortgage adviser John Charcol, which revealed a rise in the number
of people taking up fixed-rate mortgages as they allow homebuyers
to gain stability in the property market.
