Report shows property values on the rise

The average value of houses for sale in the UK has risen over the
past month after a period of drops, it has been revealed.
Halifax told homeowners looking to sell that their properties may
be worth 0.6 per cent more than they were in June, with typical
price tags resting at around £167,425 in the past 30
days.
Although this is 16 per cent below peaks seen in August 2007, the
0.6 per cent increase corrects a fall of the same amount seen in
June, but experts have claimed that the figure is set to remain
roughly the same throughout 2010.
Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, said: "[The rise] is
... in line with our view that house prices will be broadly
unchanged over 2010 as a whole."
The Land Registry recently reported that estate agents saw a 0.1
per cent increase in house prices since May.
